In a bid to celebrate students who have demonstrated academic performance and exceptional dedication to their studies, an international education and innovation company, StudyExpress, has set up an annual scholarship scheme known as StudyExpress Annual Scholastic Achievement (SASA) award scheme for students across secondary schools in Nigeria.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Mr Kehinde Olorunfemi, the scholarship scheme, which commenced over a year ago, had rewarded over 30 brilliant students selected from secondary schools across Lagos, Ogun and Oyo states respectively.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune on the rationale behind the gesture, Mr Olorunfemi said that the award is not only meant to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the recipients, but to also motivate and inspire others to embrace and strive for excellence.
“The SASA Award serves as a testament to the importance of academic excellence and the impact it has on shaping future leaders,” he stressed.
He noted that winning the SASA award will provide the students with numerous opportunities to further their academic pursuits and career aspirations, as well as motivation for consistency in all areas of their lives.
He noted that the award is open to every student enrolled in any selected public and private secondary school in the country.
He, however, explained that to win the award, the students must have met certain criteria and demonstrated exceptional academic performance.
“Students who meet the eligibility requirements for the award will be rewarded with a cash prize, a certificate of recognition, and the opportunity to network with industry professionals and other career mentors, he noted.
Speaking further, he stated that the annual SASA award presentation is carried out at a special recognition ceremony taking place on the same day the selected schools by the company are holding their End-of-The-Year programme, where parents, staff, families, and friends are gathered to honour the diligence and outstanding performance.
He encouraged schools to key into this project saying, “We look forward to making our little impacts on the lives of the younger generation and in building a better nation where academic excellence is appreciated.”
StudyExpress collaborates with highly skilled trainers, internationally accredited institutions, school associations to organise career advisory and mentorship programmes, symposium, inter-school debates and essay writing competition, among others, to revolutionise the development of students in secondary schools both formally and informally.
